To get fully prepared, take a look at this cool fan-made trailer for the special below. Are you ready to #SaveTheDay?

"The Day of the Doctor" starts at 2:50 p.m. ET on BBC America, and we'll be with you every step of the way. Geronimo!

2:30 p.m. - The pre-show is a salute to Whovians, which is pretty fun. Lots of Vines, Instagram photos and technical difficulties. Grant Imahara ("Mythbusters") is there with host Veronica Belmont and a couple others on the panel.

2:39 p.m. - During a video package, several people associated from the show. The best is Karen Gillan, who wishes, "Happy 50th, you raggedy man."

2:47 p.m. -  A fun video is shown with Smith and Tenant reading lines from classic movies like "The Terminator," "When Harry Met Sallay" and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." Just a little example of what not to expect from the special.

It's time!

2:50 p.m. - Old school opening credits. Simply perfect. Show opens with  Clara teaching a class when a call comes from her Doctor." Off she goes to the TARDIS, where the Doctor awaits. Finally the TARDIS meets its match: a helicopter with a crane claw attached to it, care of U.N.I.T.

2:54 p.m.  The Doctor and Clara are brought to the National Gallery on the orders of Queen Elizabeth I. That's where the painting of the Time War on Gallifrey comes in. It happens to be 3D. "Time Lord art," 11 says, "Bigger on the inside." It turns out the War Doctor was pretty much the worst person ever, but he ended the Time War.

2:58 p.m. - First Dalek sighting, in the middle of an epic Time War. It also brings the first scene of John Hurt as the War Doctor. The Daleks are focused on destroying the Doctor, but he crashed the TARDIS into them. He also burns the words "No More" into a wall.

3:01 p.m. - It seems Gallifrey has a weapon hidden that causes "ultimate mass destruction." At least, they did until the War Doctor got his hands on it. His only purpose is to end the war, and he'll do it at any cost.  Naturally, he has to figure out how to make it work first.

3:03 p.m. - ENTER ROSE TYLER! She's the interface of that weapon. She's funny too, mocking the War Doctor for being "Stuck between a girl and a box." Story of his life. The consequence for the Doctor ending the war, killing Gallifrey, is he has to live with it forever, suffer for the death of all of the innocence on the planet. Bad Wolf is bad news. Then a fez comes through a portal, in case things weren't crazy enough.

3:09 p.m. - Back on earth, the Doctor reads a message from Elizabeth. He's then directed into a room with a painting of her and 10. Flashback to England 1562, With Elizabeth and Tennant on a horse. Welcome to the party, David!

3:11 p.m. - 10 presents a machine that goes ding and downloads comic books, making it instantly better than any eReader. He proposed to Elizabeth, but it was an attempt to trap her because he thinks she's an alien. It turns out the horse is the real enemy and the Queen now thinks she's marrying the Doctor.

3:13 p.m. - David Tennant vs. a bunny is the best battle in the galaxy. The alien has now shifted shapes into the Queen, leaving 10 to figure out which one is real. A tear opens in reality, with a fez falling through.

Back in modern day, 11 and Clara go to the "under gallery" where all the extra special art is. Still no explanation why one of the scientists is wearing Tom Baker's scarf. However, 11 gets his fez and all seems right for a moment.

The tear in time shows up for 11 and he throws his fez through, before umping in himself. 10 and 11 met and the world stops!

3:18 p.m. - The two Doctors are competitive right off the bat and it's adorable, but are also having some fun with the similarities. When 11 checks to see if the tear with go in two directions, by sending his fez back through, that's how it gets to the War Doctor.

3:20 p.m. - The War Doctor comes through the portal and assumed 10 and 11 are the current Doctor's companions. He doesn't look pleased that these kids are his future.

He's also confused as to why they keep trying to use their sonic screwdrivers as weapons. He even tosses out River Song's "assemble a cabinet" quote. When Matt Smith mentions "timey wimey," the War Doctor is displeased. "I have no idea where he picked that up," Tennant says. He just wants his formal self to be proud.

3:24 p.m. - All the Doctors are thrown in the dungeon by the Queen's guards. 10 and 11 want to find out why the War Doctor came looking for them. Rose appears in the dungeon with them, but only the War Doctor can see her. Tennant and Piper need to talk to each other in this.

Meanwhile, the whole thing seems like one big, crazy Zygon plan, as the aliens are now invading the National Gallery.

3:27 p.m. - Captain Jack Harkness name drop! U.N.I.T. has a time travel device tat came from him. They're going to use it to get to the Doctor. Unfortunately, the U.N.I.T. people are actually Zygons, something Clara didn't know until it was too late. She quick;ly grabbed the time travel device to use herself, escaping the Zygons.

3:31 p.m. - The War Doctor wants to know what the count is of children who died on Gallifrey when he ended the Time War. 10 knows but 11 has forgotten, which disgusts them. When asked what's happened during 11's tenure that would make him forget, he simply replies, "Spoilers."

It takes all three Doctors to figure out how to use the sonic screwdriver to destroy the dungeon door. Of course, they could have simply tried it and realized it was unlocked. Luckily Clara traveled back to their time to do it for them.

3:35 p.m. - The Zygons lost their home world during the Time War and are setting up shop on earth. They suspended themselves in paintings back in 1562 England before being freed from the paintings in the future, where they can take over.  It seems Gallifrey art is actually single moments in time, suspended. The actual Queen Elizabeth gets the Doctor his TARDIS, but first makes sure they get married. "Does this happen a lot in the future?" the War Doctor asks 11.

The two Doctors don't like each others TARDIS layouts and it's awesome.

3:40 p.m. - Back on modern day Earth, the actual U.N.I.T. folks the real U.N.I.T. people at the National Gallery are free and confronting the Zygons. Did you see River Song's shoes? The Doctors use the TARDIS to go back to a moment in a Gallifrey painting of the Time War, so they're suspended in it. They send a Dalek through it and into the modern world, getting them into the TARDIS proof Tower of London, where the Zygons are running their operation.

While Clara investigates the gallery, there's a Cyberman head and picture of the first companion, Susan Foreman. She then talks to the War Doctor

3:47 p.m. - After Clara tells the War Doctor of 11's regrets over the Time War, he's suddenly back with Rose Tyler and the ultimate weapon. He's even got a big red button this time, to make detonation easy. However, 10 and 11 both appear in their TARDIS's to stop him.

"These events should be time locked, we shouldn't even be here," 10 days. War Doctor tells them to go back to their lives, be the Doctor he never could.

"You were the Doctor on the day it wasn't possible to get it right," 11 says to him. They won't be there to leave him alone in his time of need. They're going to help him push the button, so he doesn't have to live with it alone. Clara says she's never been able to picture her Doctor being the only truly responsible. She's then shown what's happening on Gallifrey, what they would be ending. "There isn't another way, there never was," 11 tells her.

3:52 p.m. - The reasoning behind the name of the Doctor is given. He's never cruel nor cowardly. Never give up, never give in. The Doctors decide pushing the button isn't the way. Why? Because what the Daleks don't know is that this time there's three Doctors. War Doctor then mentions Bad Wolf, which catches Tennant's attention. This is what she was trying to show the War Doctor all along, that there was another way. They're going to capture all of Gallifrey in a piece of art, leaving the Daleks to destroy themselves in the cross fire.

Amazing. To get the calculations right, they call on all of the Doctors to make it work, including Christopher Eccleston. Even PETER CAPALDI! All 13 Doctors are working together to make it work! They'll never know for sure if they saved Gallifrey, but if not at least they "failed doing the right thing."

"If I grow to be half the man that you are, Clara Oswald, then I shall be happy indeed." Excellent line from the War Doctor.

It happens! It actually happens. The War Doctor regenerated, but you don't see his new face. Come on Eccleston!

11 also says goodbye, leaving 10 and Clara. His parting words? "I don't want to go." So his final quote in the series remains intact.

4:00 p.m. - The Doctor says he could retire and be the curator. Enter Tom Baker, whose face the Doctor recognizes. He, as the curator, tells the Doctor that the formerly titled "Gallifrey Falls" painting is now "Gallifrey Falls No More." It survived and the Doctor's new mission is to find his home planet. "Perhaps you are me," the curator tells 11.

The episode ends with a shot of all 13 Doctors. Thanks goodness for computers and archived footage. That was most definitely "The Day of the Doctor."
