Season 8 of "Doctor Who" won't just have a new Doctor ( Peter Capaldi) to get used to. The BBC has announced that Samuel Anderson will join the show on a recurring basis as Danny Pink, a work acquaintance of Clara ( Jenna-Louise Coleman).

Like Clara, Danny is a teacher at Cole Hill School. However, showrunner Steven Moffat won't elaborate on his part in the Doctor's world. "Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi's first series of 'Doctor Who'," he says.

It's entirely possible Danny will be introduced as a fellow companion to Clara. It wouldn't be the first time since the series relaunched that a companion would bring a friend along with them. Rose Tyler ( Billie Piper) brought Micky Smith ( Noel Clarke) on a few adventures during David Tennant's era, and Amy ( Karen Gillan) brought Rory ( Arthur Darvill) into the TARDIS as well. With such a drastically different Doctor, maybe bringing a friend along will help Clara adjust?

Fans will have to wait until "Doctor Who" Season 8 premieres later in the year to find out for sure.
