'Doctor Who': Rory Kinnear 'perfect choice' to replace Matt Smith? BBC says search has 'just begun'
Kinnear, who played M's chief of staff in the James Bond films "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall," was already among the top names tipped for the role and a report this weekend in U.K.'s Telegraph says the offer is officially out.
"He has been offered the part and we are waiting to hear if he will accept," an anonymous source tells the Telegraph. "He is the perfect choice."
But the BBC released a statement of their own claiming the search for the Doctor is still in early stages: "Speculation around the identity of who will be next to step in to the TARDIS is rife. The search has only just begun and all will be revealed over the coming months."
If Kinnear isn't the BBC's top choice for the role, we can probably look forward to a flurry of other names confirmed and then debunked as the successor to Matt Smith in the coming weeks or even months. Consider it a great way to land some free publicity in this 50th anniversary year.
