There's still no information about the plot, but one of those "Doctor Who" episodes "Sherlock" co-showrunner Mark Gatiss is writing is going to have a very special guest star. "Da Vinci's Demons" star Tom Riley will be appearing and couldn't me more excited about it.

After the news was revealed by the BBC, Riley tweeted, "Well that's out then. I've been a massive fan since I was even smaller than Jenna [Louise Coleman]. Very excited. @Markgatiss's script is awesome."

As was previously reported, Gatiss is writing two episodes of "Doctor Who" featuring new Doctor Peter Capaldi. While it was initially believed that both of them would air during the new season of the show, that might not be the case. Gatiss himself spoke about the episodes on Twitter, writing, "To clarify. I've been commissioned to write two episodes of 'Doctor Who'. That doesn't mean they'll both necessarily be in this season."

It sounds like fans may have to wait until Season 9 to see the second Gatiss-penned episode. "Doctor Who" returns later in 2014.
