If there's anything the "Terminator" franchise is missing, it's a Time Lord. Luckily, that's not the case anymore. Paramount Pictures has announced that former "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith has been cast in a major role in the series reboot.

The studio isn't revealing who his character is just yet, but a release says Smith "will play a new character with a strong connection to John Connor." He joins Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, J.K. Simmons, Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke in the cast.

That's right, the Doctor and Daenerys Targaryen from "Game of Thrones" sharing the screen together. That's the kind of thing only fan fiction would have thought possible before. Those two character would certainly make an interesting combination, though there's no way Daenerys would fall into the roll of companion.

The "Terminator" reboot hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
