The Doctor and his companion are going on tour. New "Doctor Who" star Peter Capaldi will be trotting across the globe with Jenna-Louise Coleman in August to meet fans of the series.

Capaldi and Coleman will stop in six cities around the world, with showrunner Steven Moffat joining them on select dates. They will attend fan events and participate in media interviews in each city. Beginning Aug. 7 in London, the tour will take the "Doctor Who" team to Sydney, New York City, Seoul and Mexico City, before wrapping things up Aug. 19 in Rio de Janeiro.

"It's fantastic that so many people across the world love 'Doctor Who'," Capaldi says in a release. "After eight months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans."

The dates Moffat will be present for will be announced at a later time. Season 8 of "Doctor Who" kicks off in August on BBC America.
