Dominic West will have an 'Affair' on Showtime

West will star in "The Affair," a drama pilot at Showtime that examines the effect an extramarital affair has on two couples. West will play a New York City high school teacher and father of four whose previously stable marriage hits the rocks when he meets someone he thinks may be his soulmate.

"The Affair" comes from Sarah Treem ("In Treatment," "House of Cards"), who wrote the pilot, and fellow "In Treatment" executive producer Hagai Levi. Mark Mylod ("Shameless," "Entourage") will direct.

West earned a Golden Globe nomination earlier this year for "The Hour," which the BBC canceled following its second season. He also starred on "The Wire" and in the movies "The Forgotten" and "John Carter." He also stars with Helena Bonham Carter in "Burton and Taylor," about the relationship between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, that's set to air on the BBC and BBC America next year.
