Donald Sterling banned from NBA for life, may be forced to sell Clippers

The NBA has taken swift action against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling in the wake of audio that contained him allegedly telling his girlfriend not to associate with black people.

The league has banned Sterling for life, meaning he can no longer attend games, practices or functions associated with the Clippers or the NBA. Additionally, the league fined him $2.5 million, the maximum allowed. The NBA will donate that money to charity.

The ruling was announced in a press conference by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who also intends to try to force Sterling to sell the team, which would require a three-fourths majority of the other 29 NBA owners. Sterling has yet to respond to the ban or fine.

Immediately following the ruling, the Clippers website change to a single image, which can be seen below.
