Doris Singleton: 'I Love Lucy' star dead at 92

doris-singleton-dies-dead.jpg Doris Singleton, who was a recurring guest star as Lucy and Desi's meddling neighbor on the 1950's-era sitcom "I Love Lucy,"  passed away on Tuesday (June 26) in Los Angeles. She was 92.

In addition to playing Lucy and Desi's neighbor, Carolyn Appleby, Singleton also guest-starred on scads of TV classics, including "The Munsters," "Dick Van Dyke," "Gomer Pyle," "Gunsmoke" and "The Twilight Zone." Singleton's husband of 60 years, TV writer/producer Charles Isaacs, passed away in 2002, according to Us Weekly.

Lucy Arnaz -- Desi and Lucy's daughter -- took to Facebook to share her condolences for Singleton (and writer/director Nora Ephron, who also died on Tuesday):

"A day of saying hasta luego to two great ladies, Nora Ephron and Doris Singleton," she wrote (Singleton passed away on the same day as the legendary screenwriter). "May they both fly swiftly heavenward and enjoy a blissful rest for jobs well done down here. They were loved and appreciated and will be missed."
