Drake gives a speech about 'following through' at high school graduation
Drake has been so invested in finally graduating high school that he ended up being the person to give a speech during his graduation celebration. In a video of the ceremony that has made its way online, Drake addresses the crowd at Toronto high school Jarvis Collegiate Institute on Oct. 26 to talk about the pride he takes in finally receiving his high school diploma.
"It's not necessarily about the books that you'll read or the science or math equations that you'll do, because you may end up taking a path in life where a lot of the things that you'll learn you can't necessarily fully apply," he says, via MTV News. "What this is about today, for all of you is about the art of following through."
Drake continues, "I reached a point in my life where I realized that there aren't material things that can give me the excitement that I'm looking for. There's a void, a gap in my life that I needed to fill. It was the fact that I had left a gaping whole in my story following through."
After five months of studying, Drake passed his final high school exam on Oct. 17. As we said at the time, we're really proud of the fact that the 26-year-old actor-turned-rapper took the time out of one of the most successful years of his career to finally get a high school-level education.
