'Duck Dynasty' cast prompts Morrissey to cancel 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' performance
As of this morning (Feb. 25) the former front man for The Smiths and lifelong vegan was still planning to show up to "Jimmy Kimmel Live's" Hollywood studio Feb. 26 for a performance to promote "The Very Best of Morrissey."
However, he seems to have had a change of heart based on Jimmy's interview guests for the night -- the cast of reality show "Duck Dynasty."
A statement on Morrissey's official Facebook page reads:
"Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, February 26. However, he cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests. Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed."
For the uninitiated, A&E's "Duck Dynasty," follows the lives of Willie Robertson's family and their duck hunters' supply business, Duck Commander.
Morrisssey's U.S. tour was set to resume with the Kimmel performance, following the cancellation of several tour dates when the artist was hospitalized for a bleeding ulcer. The dates had previously been rescheduled when the Morrissey's mother fell ill late in 2012.
ABC did not have a comment on the situation, but did say the band Churchill will be performing.
The company who brings in the audience for "Jimmy Kimmel" tapings lists the Morrissey performance as sold-out. Considering the Staples Center show has been sold out for months, there are bound to be some disappointed music fans in Hollywood tomorrow.
