'Duck Dynasty' joins the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The Robertsons of "Duck Dynasty" seem to be everywhere these days, so it's no surprise that they're also in the pop culture-loving Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, held annually in New York City. That reality-show family will be among a whole host of celebrities appearing in the big event.
Who else will be there? According to the Associated Press, Ariana Grande, Jimmy Fallon (along with the Roots), Florida Georgia Line and performers from Cirque du Soleil will all be involved in the famous parade. In addition to marching bands, celebrity performances and floats, the Macy's parade will feature its traditional big balloons. Among the characters getting balloons this year are Snoopy, Woodstock and Toothless from "How to Train Your Dragon."
One of the biggest and most famous parades in the United States each year, a total of about 8000 people will participate in the Thanksgiving Day parade itself. Live spectators on the streets of New York City could exceed 3.5 million (larger than the at-home viewing audience for many TV shows). Millions more are expected to watch the parade on television.
With Santa's sleigh traditionally ending the event, the Thanksgiving Parade is often seen as the official beginning of the Christmas season.
