It is actually going to happen. In an appearance on the Nerdist podcast, Peter Farrelly officially announced a sequel to 1994's "Dumb and Dumber" is ready to go. Some might say, "Hey, there already was a sequel called 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd'." However, that was a prequel and didn't have the Farrelly brothers, Jim Carrey or Jeff Daniels involved, so it's in the same realm as that other Carrey sequel, "Son of the Mask."
The new sequel will indeed star Carrey and Daniels in the parts they made famous. There are no details about what the film will entail just yet, but the movie will film later in the Summer, for a 2014 release.
This will be only the second time Carrey has appeared in a sequel to one of his movies. The first was "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls." He was originally asked to reprise his role in a sequel to "Bruce Almighty." After declining, the movie was reworked into "Evan Almighty," centered around Steve Carell's character.
