DVR ratings: 'Terra Nova' gets a big bump, 'Suburgatory' doesn't (but that's not bad)

terra-nova-premiere-reaction.jpgThe DVR ratings for the second week of the season don't feature much change at the top -- but one more new show did break into the Top 10 in viewers and adults 18-49 rating gained.

"Modern Family," "Hawaii Five-0" and "Two and a Half Men" added the most viewers for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2, according to Nielsen's Live +7 ratings. "Family" and "Men" also added the most to their adults 18-49 numbers for the week, along with "Grey's Anatomy." That wasn't much different than what went down during premiere week.

FOX's "Terra Nova" was easily the biggest gainer among the shows that premiered in the season's second week. It added a little over 3 million viewers (going from 9.22 million to 12.25 million) and 1.3 points in the 18-49 demographic (3.1 to 4.4). Since it aired opposite ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and CBS' strong comedy lineup -- in addition to part of "Monday Night Football" on ESPN -- it's not a big surprise that a lot of people saved the two-hour premiere for later.

The same can't be said for the debut of ABC's "Suburgatory," which added a relatively small 1.3 million viewers (9.81 million to 11.14 million) and half a point in the 18-49 demo (3.3 to 3.8). But that's not really a bad thing, since it means that the overwhelming majority of the well-reviewed (and already picked up) comedy are watching the day it airs, which means that they're more likely watching the commercials as well.

Among the other Week 2 premieres, "Happy Endings" gained 1.2 million viewers and 0.7 in adults 18-49; "Hart of Dixie" added 576,000 viewers (an additional 30.7 percent) and two-tenths of a point in 18-49; and "Mike & Molly" grew by a little more than 2 million viewers and 0.8 in the 18-49 demo. "Fringe" got the biggest percentage bump of any show, growing by 52.8 percent in viewers (3.05 million to 4.65 million) and a whopping 66.7 percent in adults 18-49 (1.2 to 2.0).
