Dwayne Johnson to have surgery for Wrestlemania 29 abdominal injury
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is slated to undergo surgery for an abdominal injury next week. The actor sustained the injury at April 7's Wrestlemania 29 event, which he lost to John Cena.
"Saw my Dr who had to push my intestines back thru the tear in my abdomen. Kinda romantic," Johnson tweets two weeks later. "Surgery is next week. #BringItOn."
At the time of the injury, he tweeted, "In the middle of last nights Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & adductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job. But as we know it's all about #JustBringIt. WWE Universe THANK YOU for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me. #LeaveItAllInTheRing."
The Rock has been tweeting updates about his road to recovery since as he trains for his upcoming movie "Hercules." During a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg, Johnson admitted that Wrestlemania 29 might have been his last because of the injury he sustained. It remains to be seen how the surgery affects Johnson's commitment to "Hercules," but he at least didn't show up at the premiere for his new Michael Bay project, "Pain & Gain." That film hits theaters on April 26.
