After dropping hints left and right, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed he'll star in an upcoming "Shazam" movie based on the DC comic book. He won't be playing Captain Marvel, though.
Johnson, a former WWE superstar and current action star, will instead play Black Adam. Traditionally the character has been a villain, though more recently he has been written more as an anti-hero. Johnson tweeted a photo of Black Adam battling Captain Marvel, writing, "'Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.' My honor to become ... #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero"
Variety reports Darren Lemka will script the movie. "Shazam" will be yet another potential franchise for Johnson, who already has "The Fast and the Furious" and "G.I. Joe" sequels heading to theaters. There's no announced release date for "Shazam" yet.
