'Dynasty,' 'Doctor Who' actress Kate O'Mara dies

Kate O'Mara, a British actress best known to American audiences for her roles in TV shows like "Dynasty" and "Doctor Who," has died at the age of 74.

A regular on first British and then also American TV since the 1960s, O'Mara's biggest stateside role was that of Cassandra Morell -- the sister of Joan Collins' character -- on "Dynasty" in the 1980s. In that same period, O'Mara also played the role of The Rani on "Doctor Who." Over the years, the actress also appeared in "The Saint," "The Avengers," "Absolutely Fabulous," "Howards' Way" and more.

In addition to her acting, O'Mara founded the British Actor's Theatre Company and was the author of four books. She died in Sussex, England on Sunday, March 30.
