'Elementary' trailer: CBS bets on Jonny Lee Miller's brains and brawn
Here's something you won't see in the BBC's "Sherlock" starring Benedict Cumberbatch: Jonny Lee Miller's abs. Viewers will, however, see just that -- along with his ripped arms -- in "Elementary" which is set to air Thursday nights this fall on CBS.
In a new trailer, Holmes and Watson (Joan Watson, played by Lucy Liu) meet. She's his sober companion, but also a disgraced surgeon who can't bring herself to return to the OR after losing a patient. Holmes is a recovering addict who has mysteriously transplanted himself from London to New York to help the NYPD solve crimes using just his superior intellect and an amazing capacity to roll marbles across the floor.
If you're looking for an intellectual workout ala "Sherlock," keep watching the BBC version. But "Elementary" looks like it might be a fresh take on the procedural for CBS and, yes, there is romantic and/or sexual tension between Miller and Liu. Which could prove as interesting, in its own way, as the BBC's bromance take on the Holmes/Watson dynamic.
