At one point Saoirse Ronan was believed to be the favorite to take on the role of Scarlet Witch for "Avengers: Age of Ultron," but those days appear to be over. A new report has Elizabeth Olsen at the top of the list for the character.
According to Bleeding Cool, Ronan actually passed on the part, leaving director Joss Whedon and Marvel to find another choice. The site says Olsen is that choice, though it's unknown if she's actually been approached about it.
If she does get the role, she may be fighting alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is in talks with Marvel to play her brother, Quicksilver. What's interesting is the two heroes are actually the children of Magneto, a character that resides in the "X-Men" movie universe. As such, that part of their back story is off-limits for "Age of Ultron."
Quicksilver will also appear in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," played by Taylor-Johnson's "Kick-Ass" co-star Evan Peters. It really is a small world in the superhero universe.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is slated to begin production in early 2014.
