Elvis Presley crypt to be auctioned off
We're not talking about the one in Graceland. Elvis was removed from his original crypt and laid to rest at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. The one fans will be bidding for is located at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. The auction will begin on June 23 as part of the "Sports Legends and Music Icons" series. This is one of almost a thousand other bits of history up for sale.
Elvis and his mother were originally buried there, but were removed two months later and reburied at Graceland. It has been empty ever since. According to AP, the winner will receive, "the crypt, opening and closing of the vault for burial, a memorialization inscription and use of a chapel for a committal service." Bidding starts at $100,000, so get those check books ready.
