Emma Stone W Magazine cover: 'Gangster Squad' star talks Oscars and corsets

emma-stone-w-magazine-cover-w.jpg Emma Stone has come a long way since her debut a little over five years ago in "Superbad." The actress, currently starring in "Gangster Squad," has become a Hollywood "It" girl.

The actress strips down to her bra for the February 2013 cover of W Magazine. In an accompanying interview, the actress talked about quite a few things, including her Academy Awards appearance last year. Regarding the memorable Oscar presentation with Ben Stiller, Stone maintains she wasn't drunk, though some thought she was.

Rather than the normal banter between presenters, Stiller played the role of a jaded actor, no longer impressed with awards shows, with Stone as the over-excited new kid on the block. That wasn't the original plan, though.

Emma and Ben initially wanted to work a life animal into their presentation of the award for best visual effect, with Stone explaining, "'Planet of the Apes' was nominated, so we thought we would bring a chimp onstage and I'd say, 'Oh-it looks so real.' And Ben would be like, 'It's a real chimp.' And I'd be insisting, 'Oh, my God-the work they do now is so staggering.' And he'd repeat, 'It's a real chimp.' But apparently, you can't make the Oscar presentation about a particular movie or else the audience thinks you're swaying the vote toward that movie."

Emma also talked about the clothing of the "Gangster Squad" era, especially the difficulty of the undergarments. Stone says, "It's time-consuming to put on a bustier and a little corset every day." It wasn't all bad, though, as the actress continues, "But you're immediately more poised than you would be in modern-day clothes. And it makes it easy to get into character."
