Emma Watson: 'I'm still a student at Brown'

There's been some confusion over "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson's collegiate plans. The 21-year-old actress left Brown University earlier in the year to "take a bit of time off," and though there have been reports that she would not return, she says that's not the case.

"I wanted to be free to give a proper farewell to 10 years of work that will always be the most important of my life -- probably," she tells The Virginian-Pilot of her reason behind taking the semester off for "Potter" publicity and to film several other projects.

"I'm still a student at Brown," she says. "It's just that I'll spend my third year abroad -- at Oxford. Then I'll return to Brown to complete my last year."

The decision to take time off and study at different schools seems to be something Watson is relishing, if only for the sense of control.

"I have spent more of my life being someone else than I have being myself," she says. "I have never really known what it is to have total freedom. It's not something I lost. It's something I never had."
