Emmy Awards 2012 red carpet: Edie Falco and the Stella McCartney dress that won't go away

edie-falco-emmy-dress.jpg "Nurse Jackie" star Edie Falco looked pretty fabulous on the Emmys red carpet Sunday (Sept. 23), going long and loose with her hair and looking tanned, toned and happy.

She also looked a little ... familiar, thanks to the very popular Stella McCartney dress she was wearing. It's known as the "optical illusion" dress because of the way its different color panels help women look (even) thinner, and it's been pretty much everywhere in the past year or so.

Kate Winslet wore one at the Venice Film Festival last fall. Gwyneth Paltrow wore it to the Grammys earlier this year. Kate Moss sported a short version at a Stella McCartney event during London's Fashion Week in February. And on and on.

That's not to knock Falco, or any of the other women who have worn the dress. It's a pretty great dress, and the hourglass effect it creates is kind of amazing. Falco also praised how cool and comfortable it felt on the sweltering red carpet.

But you'd be forgiven if you felt a little deja vu.
