Emmys 2013: 'HIMYM' cast stages an intervention for Neil Patrick Harris' 'Excessive Hosting Disorder'Add to Favorites | How I Met Your Mother
One of the funniest bits of the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards didn't come from the host, Neil Patrick Harris. It came from his "How I Met Your Mother" cast mates Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, Cobie Smulders, and Jason Segel.
Longtime "HIMYM" fans knew exactly what was coming when Radnor, Hannigan, Smulders, and Segel began complaining about a certain someone's "EHD," or "Excessive Hosting Disorder" ... an old-school, classic, "HIMYM" intervention, with a banner and all.
You see, it turns out Harris' many turns at bat hosting awards shows had gotten to his head ("The symptoms of 'EHD' appear in a 'host' of ways," Radnor quipped). Harris was apparently interrupting 'HIMYM' shooting with improvised awards for his favorite tree-themed lays in honor of Arbor Day, giving friends gift bags from past awards shows for their birthdays, etc., so much so that Radnor, Hannigan, Smulders, and Segel got a little help from fellow-"EHD"-sufferer Arsenio Hall. They got workers from "The Ryan Seacrest Center for Excessive Hosting in Malibu, Calif." to cart Harris off for a little R and R.
The intervention bit was hilarious and showed that the "HIMYM" cast is at the top of their game, just in time for their final season to premiere on Monday (Sept. 23). If this sketch was any indication, we're in for a top-notch last season.
