stephen-colbert-report-emmys-gi.jpgAfter Gwen Stefani bungled "The Colbert Report's" name when announcing it won Outstanding Variety Series, Jimmy Fallon rushed to the 66th primetime Emmy Awards stage to accept as a joke that perhaps the poorly pronounced name meant "The Tonight Show" had won instead. But Stephen Colbert, as he so often does, made Fallon take the joke a hilarious step too far, to wonderful bleep-worthy results.

Fallon enters the stage saying, "This is unbelievable, she said it wrong, so there must be a mistake. It's just very interesting. I want to see the envelope."

But once he took the stage, he quickly had to run with the joke. "I just want to thank Stephen and all his writers for doing such a great job ... Colbert ... you guys are the greatest ... everyone at Comedy Central. They're great," he says, speaking the words Colbert was whispering in his ear. "I want to thank his wife, and his children, they're just fantastic. Everyone's work on the show for the last nine years. And you know who you are. If you don't know who you are, go to IMDb.com, it's very comprehensive."

He continues with some laughter, "If you always wanted to work on the show, and you don't have a chance because it's ending, just put your name on IMDb and I'll back you up. Just call yourself like a creative consultant bulls*** ... you made me say that! You're in trouble!"

For his own speech, Colbert says: "It has been a ton of fun doing this show for the last nine years, thank you so much for giving us this award. We want to thank Jon Stewart again. We want to everyone who's not on this stage who worked on this show. Our writers won last week for Writing a Variety Series! I'm so proud of those guys and one woman! And I'm sorry for that, for some reason. And I love my wife and I love my children, and I thank you for all your patience with me. Thank you."
