Former "ER" actor Mekhi Phifer has filed for bankruptcy, according to a report from TMZ.com.

Phifer reportedly owes a debt of about $1.3 million and has claimed only $67,000 in assets. The bulk of the debt is in the form of back taxes ($1.2 million) with additional expenses for legal fees and child support for his two children. Currently, legal documents indicate that his expenses are more than $11,000 monthly, with an income of only $7500 in that same time.

In addition to his long-running role of Dr. Gregory Pratt on "ER," Phifer has had regular and recurring parts on a wide variety of shows, from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to "Lie to Me" to "Torchwood." Phifer most recently appeared as Dre Collins on Showtime's "House of Lies."
