'Ev & Ocho' canceled by VH1 after domestic violence arrest

Ev-Ocho-canceled-gi.jpgVH1 announced on Monday that it will not be airing "Ev & Ocho" after Chad Johnson's arrest on August 11 for allegedly headbutting his wife, "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada.

The series was to feature Johnson and Lozada in the weeks leading up to their wedding, which happened in St. Maartin on the 4th of July. An earlier press release had indicated that "these two realize planning 'happily ever after' won't be a smooth course."

"Ev & Ocho" had been scheduled to premiere on September 3, but the network released a statement that reads:

"Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series 'Ev and Ocho' from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it."

On Sunday, Johnson was released from jail and dropped by the Miami Dolphins. Reports are circulating that Lozada was released from the hospital after several hours and has moved out of the couples' home -- after being married for just over a month.

The domestic dispute reportedly began after Lozada found a receipt for condoms and it escalated to violence.
