Fall TV 2013: 'Welcome to the Family' stars Mike O'Malley and Ricardo Chavira talk modern day 'Romeo and Juliet'

Comparing a weekly TV comedy to Shakespeare may sound ridiculous, but "Welcome to the Family" stars Mike O'Malley and Ricardo Chavira are in on the joke.

O'Malley ("Glee," "Justified") and Chavira ("Desperate Housewives") star as two fathers whose worlds collide when their teenage children reveal an unexpected pregnancy. So there's more than just "Romeo and Juliet" in the mix for this feuding families comedy, there's a little bit of "Knocked Up" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" too.

Mary McCormack ("In Plain Sight") and Justina Machado ("Six Feet Under") co-star as O'Malley and Chavira's respective wives, while Ella Rae Peck ("Deception") and Joseph Haro ("Awkward") are their kids.

Watch O'Malley and Chavira explain it all in the video above and check out "Welcome to the Family" when it premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
