'Family Guy': Show rips Emmy voters in mailer

family-guy-brentwood-fox.jpgThe folks at "Family Guy" have never been ones ones to err on the side of decorum. And they've done it again, this time while trying to lobby for votes for the 2012 Emmys.

In an attempt to secure nods for "Best Comedy," the show recently sent out a mailer featuring Peter Griffin saying, "Come on, you bloated, overprivileged Brentwood Jews. Let us into your little club." Brentwood is an area of Los Angeles that's home to numerous entertainment industry executives. Inside the mailer, Stewie offers a slightly less combative tone saying, "It's a secret ballot. You can still tell people you voted for 'Modern Family.'"

This approach to getting the attention of Emmy voters is nothing new for the animated series. In previous years, the mailers have said such things as "You have to vote for us. We did a Holocaust episode" and "Celebrating diversity - written by 8 WASPs, 6 Jews, 2 Asians and 1 Gay." Perhaps the most controversial "For Your Consideration" request featured Peter, looking like Gabourey Sidibe of "Precious," saying, "Vote for us or you're a racist."

The approach hasn't helped much. "Family Guy" has only once been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. It lost to "30 Rock" in 2009. family-guy-emmy-modern-family-fox.jpg
