Rob Dyrdek wanted "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" to go out with a bang when its series finale airs Thursday, March 13, so he decided to break a Guinness World Record ...

By driving a car backwards off a ramp.

On Thursday (Feb. 13), Dyrdek, his fellow "Fantasy Factory" cast members, crew and special invited guests gathered at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, Calif. to watch history being made. The TV star and former professional skateboarder drove a Chevrolet Sonic to break the record for the Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car.

Zap2it was on the scene to watch Dyrdek successfully land the car after clearing 89 feet and 3 1/4 inches in the air and drive away from the ramp to meet the Guinness requirements -- solidifying both the car and the driver as Guinness World Records record holders.

MTV filmed Dyrdek's Sonic jump for the season/series finale of "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory," but since that doesn't air for another month, check out Zap2it's On the Scene report of before, during and after the stunt.

First, the audience heard a few quick safety tips about the stunt:

Then Dyrdek drove some test runs in reverse to make sure he had the right speed to make the jump:

This is the full distance Dyrdek had to clear, backwards:

There were many cameras on hand to capture every moment of the jump for posterity and the series finale, and the crew even had an eye in the sky:

And then the stunt began. Dyrdek put the car in reverse, punched the accelerator, and drove:

Dyrdek made the landing, spun the car to continue forward but overcorrected and drove straight into the guard rail ... oops:

But Dyrdek wasn't hurt in the crash, and it was decided that he had full control of the vehicle after landing so the jump would still count regardless:

Now we waited for the representative from the Guinness World Records to measure how far the car was in the air from the moment it left the start ramp to the moment it touched down on the catch ramp to see if Dyrdek did indeed break the record:

And he did it! Dyrdek broke the world record, and ran up to his fellow "Fantasy Factory" cast members for high fives:

Then he jumped on top of the car for a little victory dance:

And that's a wrap:

"Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" airs Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET -- and you can watch the stunt in full on the series finale on March 13 on MTV.
