'Fargo' has a decent ratings start for FX
The premiere, inspired by but not exactly based on the Coen brothers' Oscar-winning 1996 film of the same name, delivered 2.65 million viewers, with just more than 1 million falling in the adults 18-49 demographic. Two replays later in the night pushed the totals to 4.1 million viewers and 1.8 million adults 18-49.
FX shows tend to make heavy gains with delayed and repeat viewing, so the total audience for the "Fargo" premiere will likely be significantly higher than the overnight numbers.
"We are incredibly proud of the towering creative achievement by [creator] Noah Hawley and everyone involved with 'Fargo,'" FX Networks CEO John Landgraf says. "... This is truly one of the best shows we've ever had on the network. We're thrilled with the initial viewership last night and really excited for audiences to see the rest of the miniseries."
"Fargo" is slated to run for 10 episodes. If FX decides to order another season, it would feature a different cast and story, a la "American Horror Story."
