'Fargo' renewed for Season 2 on FX; new time period, new charactersAdd to Favorites | Fargo
Executive producer and writer Noah Hawley is once again helming the 10-episode season, which will feature an all-new cast of characters (which means new actors in this case), a new time period and a new "true crime" story that will unfold over the course of the season.
"We could not be more proud of Fargo," says John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks. "Noah's audacious, bordering on hubristic riff on my favorite Coen brothers film earned 18 Emmy nominations -- the most for a single program in our history. Fargo was nothing short of breathtaking and we look forward to the next installment."
As far as casting, Landgraf says they aren't anywhere near that phase of the process yet, but he does say that while thinks the first season needed marquee star Billy Bob Thornton, now that the show's tone and production quality is established, he doesn't think "Fargo" is pressured to find a big-name star for Season 2.
There is no word yet on the time period in which Season 2 will take place, though we've certainly made our feelings known about wanting the Sioux Falls incident to be the focus of the second season.
FX says the earliest "Fargo" Season 2 will launch is fall 2015.
