arya-stark-fastest-rising-baby-name.jpgThe Social Security Administration released its data for baby names in 2012 and once again, Jacob and Sophia topped the list. But now that more numbers have been crunched, some interesting names are jumping up the charts.

The two names that made the biggest jumps in the Top 500 are Major and Arya. Major went from no. 988 (197 total births) in 2011 to no. 483 (555 total births) in 2012, an increase of over 500 spots on the list and a total-birth increase of nearly 250 percent.

Arya went from no. 711 (387 total births) in 2011 to no. 413 (754 total births) in 2012, an increase in almost 300 spots on the list and a total-birth increase of nearly 200 percent.

For those who don't watch the show, Arya is the rough-and-tumble younger Stark daughter on "Game of Thrones" (pictured above) -- no doubt that has influenced the name's popularity.

As for Major, acting SSA commissioner Carolyn Colvin says, "I have no doubt Major's rising popularity as a boy's name is in tribute to the brave members of the U.S. military, and maybe we'll see more boys named General in the future."

The second-fasting rising names were Gael for boys and Perla for girls. Both are popular with the Spanish-speaking population.
