'Fear Factor' returning to NBC
NBC is reviving its reality action show "Fear Factor," EW reports. Paul Telegdy, head of NBC's alternative programming, said the network thought of the idea after seeing the show's repeats draw high ratings on its sister cable channel Chiller.
Telegdy tells EW, "No one has come close to doing what they've done on that show. You go back and they've stood the test of time. It always had this incredible spectacle to it."
"Fear Factor" debuted in 2001 and ran for five years on the peacock network. Telegdy says the reboot will be even bigger than the original. "The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then, we're going to be able to make it even bigger," he explains. "We're going to make it more visually arresting."
Joe Rogan hosted the original show, but it's not yet clear if he will be returning or it a new host will be selected. The show should launch midseason or next summer.
