The "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting rumors continue. While it was reported that "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam was up for the role of Christian Grey, yet another new name has entered the arena. Chris Evans has been thrown in as a possibility all because of a simple tweet from E.L. James, author of the books.
Just after midnight on Thursday morning (August 22), James tweeted a photo of herself with Evans, including the message "Having fun ... ;)" It didn't take long for fans to take that winky face to mean Evans is up for the role, but don't start jumping up and down just yet.
Evans has a pretty busy year ahead of him as it is, with "Avengers: Age of Ultron" beginning production in early 2014. He's also going to be promoting "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which is due on theaters April 4, 2014. So, while not really a likely candidate, Evans certainly would be an interesting choice for the role.
In the meantime, he joins a long list of possibilities that have been rumored since the movie was first announced. Currently, Universal is hoping to release "Fifty Shades of Grey" on August 1, 2014. If they plan to meet that date, some casting decisions will have to be made soon.
