Update: "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam has been cast as Christian Grey.
After an endless supply of rumors, the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaptation has found its Anastasia Steele. "Ben and Kate" star Dakota Johnson will take on the female lead.
The announcement was made on Twitter by the book's author, E.L. James. "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'," she writes.
Several actresses were rumored to be in the running for Anastasia, including Alexis Bledel, Felicity Jones and Emelia Clarke. There's still no word on who will play Christian Grey. The movie is looking to release August 1, 2014, so it shouldn't be too long before more announcements are made.
"Fifty Shades" isn't the only big role on the horizon for Johnson. She'll also join Aaron Paul and Michael Keaton in the movie adaptation of the "Need for Speed" video game, which is due in March 2014.
