'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie finds a writer, but who will play Anastasia Steele?Add to Favorites | Terra Nova
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is one step closer to the big screen.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features have announced that they have hired writer Kelly Marcel to script the upcoming E L James adaptation. In addition to creating "Terra Nova," Marcel has written the upcoming Disney film "Saving Mr. Banks," which stars Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell. "Fifty Shades of Grey's" sexy subject matter is a big departure from the type of material Marcel is typically used to writing, but producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti have expressed confidence in their screenwriter's abilities.
"Kelly's work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming 'Saving Mr. Banks'," De Luca says in a press release.
Brunetti adds, "We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelley's engagement with the characters and world E L James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our 'Fifty' Shades family."
Meanwhile, the speculation regarding the actress who will play main character Anastasia Steele has heated up. The latest to gain the Internet's approval is Mila Kunis, who was recent named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive. Kunis certainly has the sex appeal for the role, but we don't know if we can buy her as a shy virgin.
