Remember that time Zac Efron was supposed to star in a remake of the '80s classic "Footloose"? If you do, then you also remember that time Efron dropped out of the project and "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford was set to fill his dancing shoes? Well then you also remember that Crawford left the film and unknown Kenny Wormald was cast to take on Kevin Bacon's iconic role. No, Wormald didn't back out... he faced the music.
The first trailer for MTV's "Footloose" remake was released on Tuesday, June 21, and fans of the original film will be pleased to see throwbacks such as Ren's yellow Volkswagen and red tuxedo. In fact, the new film seems extremely similar to the old one.
The plot is essentially the same: Boy who loves to dance moves to a small town where dancing has been banished, which he is not down with (angry dance montage ensues). He also meets a girl, the preacher's ( Dennis Quaid) daughter, played by "Dancing With the Star's" Julianne Hough. One modern twist? Pop-and-lock!
