"America's Next Top Model's" creative director and model mentor, Jay Manuel and host, Tyra Banks, talk a lot about the importance of "smize" (smiling with your eyes) on the show.

But for his birthday on Saturday, August 14, Manuel wants to spread some smiles instead.

Manuel has created a Birthday Campaign on Facebook with Operation Smile, an international charity that provides free surgeries to children all over the world who are born with facial deformities. Manuel is asking his fans to donate to the cause for his birthday.

"I truly believe that every child deserves that picture-perfect smile," says Manuel, who was recently named an Operation Smile Ambassador. "But it goes beyond a smile - a surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes has the power to literally create new hope and a new life for a child."

According to Operation Smile, every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, which can make it hard for them to speak, eat, socialize and go to school.
