Fourth 'Transformers' film confirmed, Michael Bay to direct again

tranformers-paramount.jpgFor fans of robot cars blowing things up, there's some good news for you - the fourth edition of the "Transformers" series is in the works. And better yet, Michael Bay is confirmed to direct the new film.

It makes sense that there will be another addition to the popular franchise. The first three films have earned more than $1.2 billion in worldwide box office.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura tells MTV news the new flick will be an "evolution" from the previous editions. He says, "I think the challenge there is that we are really going to do a reboot and what that's going to be, we don't even know yet."

"There's still continuity that's going on, yet there will be a lot of new cast," he says. "Whether there's anybody from the first cast, we don't even know yet. The trust is it's going to be a whole new story. The characters that would certainly come along are Optimus and Bumblebee, I'm sure."

The film is slated for a summer 2014 release.
