FOX announces premiere dates for 'American Idol,' 'Alcatraz,' 'Napoleon Dynamite' and more
"American Idol" begins its 11th season on Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. The singing competition offers the second season of its panel of Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. The series has been the top-rated TV show every year since 2003 and has launched the careers of many celebs including Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.
" Lost" producer J.J. Abrams' takes to The Rock with his new series "Alcatraz," which debuts on Jan. 16 with a two-hour episode. The show follows a team of investigators looking into the return of some of the prison's worst inmates. Abrams is teaming up with former "Lost" alum Jorge Garcia and Sam Neill.
The big comedy news involves the debut of the animated series "Napoleon Dynamite." The show is based on the 2004 movie about an awkward teen in Idaho. It will also feature Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez, who played Napoleon and Pedro in the film. It's set to air on Jan. 15 at 8:30 p.m.
The drama " Touch," featuring Kiefer Sutherland, will bow on Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. And the procedural " The Finder" hits the air Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. Comedies " Breaking In" with Christian Slater is back on March 6 and " Bob's Burgers" returns to the network on March 11.
