Fox picks up 5 new comedies: Jason Ritter and Seth MacFarlane get good news
First off, some sad news for "Parenthood" fans but great news for Jason Ritter -- he's finally found a strong pilot to lead in "Us and Them," previously known as "Friends and Family." Based on the British series "Gavin and Stacey," "Us and Them" pairs Ritter with Alexis Bledel in a long-distance rom-com.
"Law & Order: SVU" star Chris Meloni is taking a comedic turn with "Surviving Jack," based on Justin Halpern's book "I Suck at Girls." Set in the '90s, the series comes from the team behind "S#*! My Dad Says" and also stars Alex Kapp Horner, Connor Buckley, Claudia Lee, Kevin Hernandez, and Tyler Foden.
"Enlisted" features "The Finder" lead Geoff Stults, Keith David, and Chris Lowell as very different brothers living and working on the same military base in Florida. It comes from "Cougar Town" EP Kevin Biegel.
"Parks and Recreation" boss Mike Schur teams up with "Saturday Night Live" alum Andy Samberg for "Brooklyn Nine Nine," a cop comedy also starring "Last Resort's" Andre Braugher and Terry Crews.
And finally, MacFarlane's "Dads," in which Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi play childhood best friends whose lives turn upside down when their difficult fathers (Martin Mull and Peter Riegert) move in with them.
