Frank Cady, 'Green Acres' and 'Petticoat Junction' star, dead at 96
For the first part of his professional acting career, which began in 1936 according to IMDB, Cady primarily had bit parts and uncredited roles. Some of the more noted films he was in during this period were "Father of the Bride" and "Rear Window."
Cady's career advanced steadily and he landed a recurring role as Doc Williams on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." During the run of the series, he portrayed this character in 60 episodes.
Soon after, Cady secured the role of Drucker, first on "Petticoat Junction" and later on "Green Acres" and even on "The Beverly Hillbillies." He would go on to play the general-store proprietor for more than 300 episodes between 1963-71.
After that, Cady primarily had guest-starring roles. His last credit was as Drucker in the 1990 TV movie, "Return to Green Acres."
Cady's wife Shirley, died in 2008 at age 91.
