'Friday Night Lights' Gaius Charles joins the cast in 'Grey's Anatomy's' ninth season

Though complete details are yet to be released, TVLine reports that Charles will be joining the cast in a recurring role as Seattle Grace's latest doctor. His character will have to navigate through the hospital in the midst its latest recovery from yet another tragic accident -- one that saw Little Grey's ( Chyler Leigh) death and the departure of Dr. Teddy Altman ( Kim Raver).

Charles is best known for his role as FNL's football star, Smash Williams. However, his more recent credits include guest stints on " Pan Am," " NCIS," and " Necessary Roughness."
