friday-night-lights-nbc.jpgWhile we remain conflicted about the idea of a "Friday Night Lights" movie (well, a second one) that would pick up after the utterly flawless TV series finale, we are a little tickled at the plot details creator Peter Berg spilled to MTV News recently.

" Jason Katims, who was our super talented showrunner, is about done with the script. You never know," he says.

The only reason we're still tentatively on board: the project is coming from Berg and Katims, and they only want to do it if the original TV cast is available. Considering what fondness the actors seem to share for the show (something we have in common), it seems likely that they'd want to return.

"So much of these things become scheduling," Berg says. "Kyle [Chandler] is busy, Adrianne [Palicki] is busy, Taylor [Kitsch] is busy, Connie Britton is busy, but if we can get everyone in the same room at the same time, we all want to do it. We're not done with 'Friday Night Lights.'"

So, what would the plot revolve around? Why, Coach Taylor of course!

"[Katims] has come up with a really great storyline that parallels what happened to [Texas Tech coach] Mike Leach, one of my heroes, a coach at Texas Tech who was unjustly fired and unjustly accused of mistreating a player with a concussion, which was proven to not have been the case. He's now at Washington State getting ready for what I think will be a great redemption story," Berg says.

He continues: "It would be critical that we get Kyle and Connie [on board for the film] -- we anchored the show around them -- and then bring in Riggins, Tyra, Lyla and all other characters as we could get them. But the idea is to really revolve it around the coach."

As it should be.
