'Fringe,' 'Arrow' alum Seth Gabel cast as lead role in 'Salem'

seth-gabel-jan-2013-gi.jpgSeth Gabel is returning to TV. The "Dirty Sexy Money," "Fringe" and "Arrow" alum has just been cast as the lead role in new series "Salem."

"Salem" is WGN America's first scripted series (full disclaimer: WGN and Zap2it are both owned by Tribune). Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, it explores what really fueled the town's infamous witch trials.

Gabel will play Cotton Mather, a local aristocrat who makes it his business to oversee the witch hunts in Salem.

On "Fringe," Gabel played Lincoln Lee  (and alternate Lincoln Lee), an FBI agent who later works with the Fringe Division. His "Arrow" role was extremely different: he played the sociopathic drug dealer The Count who was eventually taken down by the hooded vigilante.
