The cable channel announced Tuesday (Jan. 14) that the 10-episode limited series will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Tuesday, April 15. It will take over the timeslot from "Justified" after the latter show ends its season.

This version of "Fargo" is a new story with new characters, but it features the same darkly comic tone and broad plot outlines as the Oscar-winning 1996 movie. It stars Martin Freeman ("Sherlock") as Minnesota insurance salesman Lester Nygaard and Billy Bob Thornton as Lorne Malvo, a dangerous man who crosses paths with Lester.

The cast also includes Colin Hanks, newcomer Allison Tolman, Oliver Platt, Kate Walsh and Bob Odenkirk. Noah Hawley ("Bones," "My Generation") wrote and executive produces the series; Joel and Ethan Coen are also among the exec producers.
