FX's 'Wilfred' trailer: Good enough for TV, not the Internet

FX is not putting a lot of faith in its dog-related programming these days.

After debuting during the Dec. 16 "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Christmas special, the trailer for Elijah Wood's Summer 2011 series "Wilfred" found its way online.

But only for a few hours. FX yanked the clip from YouTube on "copyright grounds" -- which is a shame, because it's kind of awesome.

A remake of an Australian series of the same name, "Wilfred" follows a suicidal man (Wood), who finds new life through a friendship with his neighbor's dog, Wilfred (played by Jason Gann, who originated the role in the Australian version). To the world, Wilfred is a dog. But to Wood, he's a surly Australian man in a dog suit.

After showing Wood's attempt at taking his own life, and his multiple suicide note revisions, the trailer shows various dog activities -- belly scratching, licking, car-chasing -- seen through Wood's eyes.

It's all very funny and should help settle fan fears that tend to accompany remakes, but now it's gone. And you can't watch it.
