'Game of Thrones': Michiel Huisman's Daario upped to Season 5 series regular
"Game of Thrones" fans can expect to see a lot more of Daario Naharis in the future. Michiel Huisman, the new actor playing Daenerys Targaryen's love interest, will be upped to a series regular if "Game of Thrones" gets renewed for a Season 5 (and let's face it, it will).
TVLine reports Huisman ("Nashville," "Treme") inked a deal to earn series regular status in the forthcoming Season 5. He replaced Ed Skrein, who played Daario for three episodes in Season 3.
Daario Naharis is the mercenary who killed his superiors in Season 3 to ally himself with Daenerys Targaryen in her taking of Yunkai. His allegiance helped secure the slaver city for the Khaleesi. But it's clear that more than just Dany's political interest was piqued when she met Daario; she also seems to find the dreamy Tyroshi sellsword attractive.
"Game of Thrones" book spoilers ahead. In George R.R. Martin's novels, Daenerys does end up taking Daario on as a lover, and it seems as though the HBO series will follow that path as well. This will be her first real love interest since the death of Khal Drogo (sorry, Jorah), though chances are Season 4 will involve a lot of courting from Daario and not a whole lot of bumping and grinding. Huisman is only slated to appear in some of the upcoming Season 4 episodes.
"Game of Thrones" Season 4 does not yet have an official premiere date, but is slated for a Spring 2014 release. What are you most looking forward to in the new season?
