'Game of Thrones': New trailer, same foreboding
We know that "Game of Thrones" is the farthest thing from a comedy. HBO's upcoming series -- whose premiere is now inside of seven weeks away -- is going to be filled with violent conflict, political intrigue and family drama, set against the backdrop of a fantasy kingdom where life is anything but easy.
From reading the novels by George R.R. Martin on which the show is based, we also know that there are some lighter moments in the story. We hope the show evokes that part of Martin's world too, but we haven't really seen it in any of the teasers HBO has released. The latest one, another stage-setting piece that gives a glimpse of most of the major characters, is above.
As with the previous trailers, the tone of the new one is pretty grim. Still, we have to think that with cast members like Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister) and Mark Addy (King Robert Baratheon), "Game of Thrones" will be able to find some levity in between all the doom and gloom. (We should also note that our eagerness to see the show isn't really diminished; there just hasn't been much variety in the teaser clips we've seen.)
"Game of Thrones" premieres April 17 on HBO.
